Gary Hyde

Born in a small town in Oklahoma, Gary’s father was career Army.  He grew up moving often, starting school in occupied Japan and finishing high school in Germany.  After graduating from West Point and completing the Army airborne, ranger, and artillery schools was assigned to the 25th Division in HI.  During this period he held junior officer artillery positions and as a door gunner in RVN.  His subsequent tour in RVN included assignments as an artillery battalion XO, assistant S3 (Operations) in the 25th Division Artillery, assistant S3 in the First Cav Division, and assistant S3 in the First Cav Separate Brigade.  He had two tours at West Point in the Department of Mechanics as an associate professor and XO of the Department.  He had three tours at the Pentagon: as an action officer in the Vice Chief of Staff’s office, assistant to the Under Secretary of the Army, and assistant to the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.  He spent ten years at Martin Marietta (later Lockheed Martin) in the Orlando division and at corporate HQ in business development (BD) and strategic planning.  He later formed an engineering and BD consulting company that supported Lockheed Martin, other corporations, and the Army.  He has two Masters Degrees in engineering from the University of Michigan.  He joined WVRF in 2022.
